Morgan Stanley became the first company to open its doors to a Deaf Blind person in the Corporate sector across India. Akhtar (Deafblind) and Roshan (Deaf) will be working with DTSS , the outsourcing firm of Morgan Stanley. Both men are beneficiaries from HKIDB (Helen Keller Institute of the Deaf & Deaf Blind)
Akhtar will be working as Stores Keeper while Roshan will be working as Snaglist Incharge.
Morgan Stanley –have partnered with the Special educators, staff volunteers at HKIDB to make this a possibilitiy.
A series of sensitisation workshops were conducted at various office premises of Morgan Stanley to make People who would be working with Akhtar & Roshan, aware of their needs in order to be able to provide a supportive work environment
Morgan Stanley has also contributed to setting up of the new “SURTI’S SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND REHABILITATION CENTER” at Karjat along with other benefactors
Electrical Wireman Training for the Deaf is a new skills upgradation program that has commenced at HKIDB with help from Morgan Stanley and JLL Mumbai .After a six month training and certification program – qualified Deaf beneficiaries will then will able to be absorbed by licensed electrical contractors . This new avenue of skill development and employment has been received with a lot of enthusiasm by interested trainees at HKIDB
